Fed Up, The Easy Way Out
Many were reading Sunday Star and were in agreement with the "fed up" sentiment with regards to the recent political motivated bickering and cross-fire. Being fed-up is the easy way out.
Its easy to throw our hands in the air and ask for some sensibility.While I agree with the sentiment, we should not be blinded with the innuendos and spiteful political strategising. We still need the integrity of our judiciary, the ACA, the police and our political leaders to be maintain for a properly functioning country. I am not willing to give up integrity in those areas just for being fed-up.
I am not willing to let business and livelihood take center stage at the expense of impoverished dignity of Malaysia.
1) We need all those accused to step down and for the judiciary and police to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation. No political influence from the government and the one sided media propaganda. We need to be able to believe and respect our judiciary and police units, both which have been dented significantly over the years. The people may be fed-up but they are not stupid.
2) Anwar needs to stop giving dates of forming new government or candidates crossing over. If you have the numbers, and I hope you do, just do it. Don't drag it out, on this the people who supported the PKR are indeed pretty fed-up with the grandstanding and strategising. If they stop you from standing a by-election to gain a seat in the Parliament, you can still form government, you need not be the PM straight away. Get the numbers, solidify the opposition, form government, have Khalid as Acting PM, then you can stand by-election even after the event. What's the problem? Unless you don't have the numbers.
3) The ruling government needs to let things take its natural course. Let Anwar stand for by election. If he has the numbers, let him try to form government. We are not Pinochet or Mugabe, or are we? If you govern, you should at least have the numbers, not because of under-handed political strategy. Let the people make their choice, they will have to live in it, be it a grave or utopia. Respect the people and let them make their own choice. If the people don't want you, why hang around, you will be ruling with a false majority.
4) Anwar needs to at least work more closely with PAS and DAP, we don't see that. We see you making your own claims and playing out your own agenda. Why don't you sit down and work out an economic blueprint for/if you form a new government. You need to show the people that PKR is a real alternative and not just a noise making machine.
5) We are fed-up, yes, don't let things drag, let the natural course of things happen. If Anwar wants to stand by by-election, let him. Are you scared? If he says he has the crossover candidates, let him show them. Are you afraid? Rule with dignity and transparency, I know its a lot to ask, but do try because that why so many people voted against the government during the last election.
6) The Saiful case looks orchestrated. The retraction by Bala looks even worse. The people has no confidence to what is being reported. We feel there has been a lot of under-handed stuff. Don't not think of blinkering the public, we are really not that stupid. Seriously.
7) The ruling government should just concentrate on being transparent and carry out effective economic planning. At least you may win back some voters if they see you have improved or changed for the better. The more you use the "hidden hand", the worse will be the sentiment and will fan the anger of the people. The people are still largely unconvinced that the government has learnt why they nearly lost the last election.
8) We just want to see "one side" prevailing so that proper planning and running of the country can continue. Give the people what they want, not what you want for yourselves.
